When I first started my own wedding planning business, I had no idea how much of my time would be spent on the actual business as opposed to just wedding planning tasks. It seems there’s never a shortage of business issues to deal with — from marketing, blogging and social media, to the really fun stuff like bookkeeping, taxes, payroll and insurance (hopefully you are hearing the sarcasm in my voice!). Needless to say, a small business owner wears a lot of hats!
Yesterday, I spent much of the day wearing my IT Director hat.
If you are a regular on the Hitched Events blog, you may have noticed we’ve been experiencing technical difficulties lately. Not only has the site crashed more often than we would like, but it’s been incredibly slow. After a run of terrible service from our webhosting company, including sub-par customer service responses to the situation, I decided enough was enough! — Oh, and this little blog post from a blogger friend of mine talking about service levels declining greatly after webhosting companies like mine were bought out by bigger ones didn’t hurt either! — I put on my IT Director hat yesterday morning and was able to get the entire site transferred to a different webhost in less than 24 hours.
Thanks for your patience with the site over the past few weeks! Hopefully you’ll notice faster page loads now and less issues. I know I’m certainly ready to retire my IT Director hat for a while!
