Narrowing Down the Guest List

Figuring out the guest list is often the most time-consuming and stressful part of the wedding planning process, particularly when your venue size or budget require a smaller wedding than you imagined. And when the parents are footing the bill, their input in the guest list can certainly complicate things even more. It’s enough to make any well-mannered bride turn into a blubbering mess… or even worse, a bridezilla. So what’s a bride to do?

This graphic from SimplyBridal.com is a great starting place for narrowing down your list. Check it out:

When my husband and I were deciding on our guest list, we made the general rule that if they were a “friend” and the other person hadn’t met them, then they were off the list. We were together for almost four years by the time we tied the knot, so we figured that if they were truly that close of a friend, the other person would have at least met them at some point. Sure, there were certainly exceptions to the rule, particularly with out-of-town guests, but we definitely kept that factor in mind as we trimmed the list.
