Favorite Emergency Kit Items of 2012

The Hitched Events team carts around a ton of stuff with us to each wedding. From Band-Aids to cough drops to extension cords, our emergency kit has a slew of random stuff, and it definitely came in handy in 2012. While safety pins probably tops the list for the most frequently used items in our kit, the items below are my personal favorites for helping the bridal party get down the aisle.

1.  Hollywood Fashion Tape

I can’t tell you how many times this little gem has come in handy. This double-sided tape sticks to clothing and skin is perfect for keeping bridal gowns and bridesmaids dresses in place. More often than not, our Hollywood Fashion Tape is called upon by bridesmaids who want a little less… uh… exposure, shall I say? in low-cut or strapless tops.

2.  Needle and Thread

I’m so glad that my mom taught me basic sewing skills when I was growing up ’cause it sure has come in handy! From sewing buttons back on tuxedo jackets to literally sewing a Mother of the Bride into her dress after the 16″ long zipper completely broke (oh yes… this really happened!), our needle and multiple shades of thread have been a huge asset to our emergency kit.

3. Dr. Scholl’s Rub Relief Strips

I purchased these Rub Relief Strips for the emergency kit on a whim, thinking that they might help a bride or bridesmaids with not so comfortable, not quite broken in shoes. What I didn’t know was that it would also be great for keeping those strappy slingbacks from slipping off the back of a gals heels… Bonus! This product has been a big win in my 2012 emergency kit… so much so that it had to be refilled a few times during the year.

4. Pain Medication

Our supply of pain medication was certainly put to use in 2012. Brides, grooms, bridesmaids, groomsmen, mothers, fathers, officiants… everyone seems to have a headache! Luckily we come packing with a variety of pain relievers, not to mention allergy medicine, cough drops and antacids.

5. Snacks

The wedding day is often a long one for the bridal party, and there have been several bridesmaids and groomsmen who have been starving (as in, light-headed, haven’t eaten for hours) just moments before walking down the aisle. We’re always equipped with a granola bar, peanut butter crackers or some other easy to travel with snack to make sure they can make it through.

The list of miscellaneous “stuff” we bring with us to events goes on and on, and we’re always adding new items to the emergency kit when a new situation comes up making us think, “Oh man… If I only had a ________ .”
