Coming Soon! The Wedding Encyclopedia

I’m always brainstorming topics for the Hitched Events blog. While I like to sprinkle in a little bit of personal info so that readers can get to know me a bit, I also want my blog to be informative, especially for brides planning their weddings.

So…. I’m kicking off a new feature on the Hitched Events blog called “The Wedding Encyclopedia.” Basically, I’ll be breaking down some of the commonly used wedding and event planning terms into plain English and telling you a bit about the history behind some of the more popular wedding traditions. Do you know the appropriate age range for a flower girl vs. a junior bridesmaid? Or the traditional participants and order for a receiving line? What about the history behind the tiered wedding cake? Nope? Well, stick around! I’ll spend some time each month (I was going to say each week, but we’ll see how it goes!) breaking down the terms, history and traditions of the wedding and event planning world. I’ve already started working on some of the posts for the Wedding Dictionary feature, and I have to tell you, some of the history behind our wedding traditions is fascinating!

Check back tomorrow for the first Wedding Dictionary post when we explore the history behind the tossing of the bride’s bouquet. And in case you missed our Vendor Video from last week, you can get a jump start on the wedding terminology by watching our Vendor Video with Debby Jewesson, owner of Branching Out Floral & Event Design, where she explains the origin of the nosegay bouquet.
