Weddings are back, and we are SO excited to get back to work! This weekend, Bethany and David are set to marry at Royal Lane Baptist Church and have a beautiful reception at The Dallas Arboretum. Today, they are sharing their story with us, along with some engagement photos captured during their engagement in New York City by A Lime Green Dream Photography!
Bethany and David first met on September 6, 2017 when they were set up on a blind date by their mutual friend and co-worker, Rachel when she realized that both David and Bethany talked about playing lacrosse and going to “southern schools”. Figuring they would have something in common, she passed Bethany’s number along to David.
Soon after, Bethany and David met for after-work drinks. Many frozen margaritas (and no dinner) later, they realized 5 hours had passed—time flies when you’re having fun. A month later, David and Bethany became official.
David proposed to Bethany on February 29, 2020. It’s undetermined whether it just happened to fall on leap day or if David chose that day so he wouldn’t have yet another anniversary date to remember every year (Bethany thinks the latter).
Bethany was already a little suspicious because she always made the reservations for date night and David had shown unusual interest in helping her choose which dress to wear.
Bethany had hinted previously how important it was to her that their families be in town for the engagement, so when Bethany checked her mom’s location on Find My Friends that afternoon and saw she was still in Dallas, she figured it must be another weekend. Little did she know, David had helped Barb switch the location tracker to her iPad, which she left in Dallas while she flew to New York for the big surprise.
Bethany and David arrived in Brooklyn and David suggested they walk out to the water to take a picture before drinks (despite it being 33 degrees outside). He asked a woman to take their picture with his phone, which she did. She then asked that they do something fun and turn back to back and face away from each other, and then turn back around to face one another. When Bethany turned back around, David was down on one knee and Bethany was ecstatic.
The woman taking photos was actually a photographer planted there by David, and the newly engaged couple spent the next hour taking engagement photos along the water.
They then went to dinner, at which time Bethany of course wanted to call her family thinking they were still back in Texas with no idea what had just happened. David insisted they savor the moment just the two of them and promised they would FaceTime everyone after dinner.
After dinner, however, David said they were late for a surprise around the corner and they scurried off to Cecconi’s, where Bethany and David’s families were anxiously waiting to celebrate with them. The final surprise of the night was an engagement party David planned with family and friends from across the country in town to celebrate!
We are so excited for these two, and cannot wait for the weekend to get here!
