My favorite part of any wedding is the wedding cake. I absolutely love a good wedding cake, but it’s not just that… The cutting of the cake often happens with about an hour or so left of the reception, and by that time, 95% of the big stuff that I’ve been coordinating during the event has already taken place. As a wedding planner and coordinator, when people are enjoying cake, I can take a little sigh of relief knowing that we’re in the home stretch. But not all wedding cakes are created equal. The wedding cake is one of the last things your guests experience, and you certainly don’t want to leave them with a bad taste in their mouths (literally)! Tasty wedding cake is a must!
For brides and grooms, the cake tasting is often one of the favorite wedding planning tasks, but going to eight different bake shops isn’t really practical. But tonight, Texas Wedding Guide is hosting an event where eight local bakeries will compete for the Texas Wedding Guide Platinum Cake Award, and you can be part of the action.
From 6:00-9:00 p.m. tonight, brides and grooms can enjoy cocktails and light bites at the Magnolia Hotel’s Pegasus Grand Ballroom with cake sampling from Cake Carousel, The Cake Guys, Delicious Cakes, Essence Cakery, Frosted Pink Cake Company, Legacy Cakes, Opulent Cakes and Sugar Bee Sweets. A panel of celebrity guest judges will crown a “Best Taste” winner, and brides and grooms will decide the “Best in Show” award. Plus, there will be music and entertainment provided by DJ Colby Logan of Astounding Sound and Lighting.
