2012 – Consistency is the Key for Me

Near the end of every year, I like to figure out my goals for the following year. I hate to call them “resolutions,” ’cause I feel like that just stinks of unused gym memberships by February. Instead, my goals are random things I want to accomplish in the year and consist of business goals, personal goals, self-improvement goals, you name it. They always say that verbalizing your goals is the best way to be accountable for them, so I thought I’d share a handful of my goals here.

  1. Workout Consistently – 3+ Times a Week: When I was living in New York City, there was so much natural exercise I was getting. We didn’t have (or need) a car and walked a ton. If the weather was nice and I could get out of the office at a decent hour, I would walk the 50 blocks from my office to our apartment, and it was no big deal. In Dallas, people don’t walk anywhere! The farthest I walk is from my garage to my front door, or from my parking spot to wherever I’m going… it’s ridiculous, and needless to say, I’ve put on a few unwanted LBs since moving back. I have a gym membership, but I’m not consistent about going. At. all. So, my goal for 2012 is to consistently workout three or more times a week. My husband and I are competing against each other in our own, made up 10-week fitness challenge as well, but that’s a story for another day!
  2. Blog Consistently – 3+ Times a Week: Some weeks I update the blog three or four times. Other times… not so much. So in 2012, my goal is to be overall more consistent. I’ll be doing some video blogging (vlogging…?) soon too, so be on the lookout for that in 2012! Oh, and if haven’t already, you should subscribe to the Hitched Events RSS feed so you can get updates to the blog instantly. I mean, I’m going to be posting more often… follow along, won’t ya?!
  3. Figure out Twitter and Use It Consistently: I guess I’m kind of old ’cause I really can’t figure out Twitter. I mean, I get the overall concept, but I haven’t figured out how to keep up with it or what to tweet that anyone would really care about. A ton of my wedding industry friends are huge Twitterers (is that even a word? Tweeters?… again, I’m old), but I haven’t yet fully gotten on board and made it a part of my daily existence, so that’s definitely a goal of mine for 2012. And yes, I’d love for you to follow me on Twitter too!

I have a long list of goals for 2012, but one theme that seems to make its way into each of them is consistency… continuing to do things over time, all the time. Not just for a short burst, but all. the. time. Every week. All the time. I’ll let you know how it goes!

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe New Year’s! See you back here in 2012!! Oh, and if you have your own health and fitness goals for 2012, make sure to check out the super inspirational “Success – How Bad Do You Want It?” video posted earlier this week.
